Why we love: When you enter the cold water or switch the shower then there is nothing else in your mind than pure presence (and panic at first). You get euphoric feelings after the first “shock” and your body then enters into a harmonious but alert state.
For who: Anyone who is healthy, but before you try cold exposure you should read all instructions carefully on the Wim Hof website and sign up to his free mini video course where you get all instructions. You should never force your body, the cold is powerful and if not done right you can risk Hypothermia. Also note that, while the cold shower habit is beneficial for most people, the habit takes some getting used to.
How it works: For the best effect and result you should try and make cold showers part of your daily routine. You do however need to build up your tolerance gradually, so it is a good idea to start with a regular shower and then turn it cold for the last few seconds. You will feel a bit panicked at first but if you focus on your breathing and stick to it (all the how to instructions can be found on the link) you will experience how the cold water sends electrical impulses to your brain which makes you feel alert, and the happy hormones called Endorphins being released.
