Why we love: At the root of sleep problems is often an overactive sympathetic nervous system (our stress/defense response). This meditation supports your body to switch on the rest & digest response (parasympathetic nervous system), which is essential for good quality sleep.

This is the perfect daily practice to add to your evening routine! Do it lying down at the end of the day. 

For who: Everyone! It can be particularly helpful if you’ve experienced racing thoughts or restlessness in the body when you are trying to fall asleep or if you wake up throughout the night.

How it works: Poor sleep is often due to hyperarousal – an imbalance of the nervous system – which is caused by stress, pressure, worry etc. This meditation gives your mind a focal point instead of your thoughts and brings friendly attention to areas of the body where there may be tension which helps release it. This way of settling the mind and body paves the way for rest and recovery.

Helpful Hint!

If you’re serious about good sleep – also avoid looking at all screens (tv, phone, laptop) 2-3 hours before bed. The blue light from screens is a known and very potent suppressor of melatonin (sleep hormone).
